Workflow automation
Workflow automation: Connecting applications through APIs with predefined triggers and actions, as in tools like Zapier, Make or n8n.
Why it matters
Workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n or Power Automate are often the right first step for simple, rule-based handoffs between apps. They become limiting when steps need reading or judgement, when volumes grow, or when you need evals, logging and review queues. That is the point where an engineered AI pipeline pays off.
Related terms
- AI automation: Automation in which AI models perform judgement steps (classifying, extracting, drafting, routing) inside a workflow that also uses deterministic rules and a human review path.
Where it comes up
In practice
In a Sudo Sapient sprint, this sits inside AI Automation: one operational workflow taken from manual to automated in 6–8 weeks, with human review on uncertain cases. See the services page on sudosapient.com.
