# AI strategy

**AI strategy:** The explanation of why and where AI matters to a business's competitive position and economics. The roadmap is the ordered delivery plan that implements it.

## Why it matters

A strategy is useful only if it changes what gets built next quarter. The practical test is whether it names the first three workflows, who owns each, how success will be measured and what the company will not do with AI. A strategy that lists technologies but no workflows is a reading list, not a plan.
