# AI ROI

**AI ROI:** The net benefit of an AI system (hours saved, errors avoided, revenue gained) minus its full build and running costs, including human review time, relative to those costs and measured against a pre-launch baseline.

## Why it matters

ROI claims are only as good as the baseline behind them. Measure volume, hours per case, error rate and cost per case before building, then count net hours saved after subtracting review and exception handling. Include the full running cost: model calls, infrastructure, monitoring and the people who maintain the system.
