# Proof of concept (AI POC)

**Proof of concept (AI POC):** A limited test showing an AI model can perform a task on sample data. It differs from a production system, which runs on real inputs with evals, guardrails, monitoring and an owner.

## Why it matters

A proof of concept answers one question: can a model do this task on sample data? It does not show that the task can be done reliably, safely and cheaply every day. Plan the path to production from the start, including real data, evals, guardrails and an owner, or the proof of concept will join the folder of demos.

- [Evals (evaluation suite)](https://sudosapient.si/terms/evals): A repeatable test set of real cases with known good outcomes, run against an AI system before each release to measure quality and catch regressions.

## In practice

Every Sudo Sapient build ships with this in place before go-live, because it is part of what separates a demo from a production system. [See how the studio works](https://sudosapient.com/).
