# AI maturity model

**AI maturity model:** A staged framework, often five levels, describing an organisation's overall capability to use AI. Useful for investment planning; less actionable than per-workflow readiness.

## Why it matters

Maturity models help leadership see the shape of the journey, from experiments to one production system to a platform of shared components and governance. Their risk is that companies spend months assessing their level instead of shipping. Treat the model as a map, and let shipped workflows, not workshops, move you up it.

## In practice

In a Sudo Sapient engagement this is settled in the one-week Discover phase, before any build starts. [The studio's process](https://sudosapient.com/services/) is on sudosapient.com.
