# Agent2Agent (A2A)

**Agent2Agent (A2A):** An open protocol for AI agents to discover each other's capabilities, typically via an agent card, and exchange tasks and messages.

## Why it matters

A2A is relevant once several agents, often from different vendors, need to hand work to each other. It defines how an agent describes its skills in an agent card and how tasks are sent and tracked. Most companies do not need it for a first build, but publishing an agent card is a cheap way to be discoverable.
